Let friends request movies with SeerrSeerr only works if your friends can reach it. Here's how, without opening a port.
You'll need
Everything happens in your browser except step 1.
Run this on the machine where Seerr runs. The container connects out to Seawise.io, so you don't open any ports on your router.
On Docker Desktop for Mac or Windows, replace --network host with -p 8082:8082.
$ docker run -d --name seawise \ --restart unless-stopped \ --network host \ -v seawise-data:/config \ ghcr.io/seawise-io/seawise-client:latest
✓ Container started
On a computer at home, open http://your-server-ip:8082 and create a password for the container's page.
Give the server a name, click Connect, and approve it in the seawise.io tab that opens. Sign up for free there if you haven't yet.
Fill in the name, the address and the port Seerr uses (5055 by default), then click Add.
--network host, use localhost. On Docker Desktop, use host.docker.internal. If Seerr runs on another machine, use its local IP, like 192.168.1.20.Seerr now shows on your Servers page at seawise.io. Click it from any browser, on any network, and you're in.
Go to Portals, create one (say, Family), and add Seerr to it. Then open its sharing settings and add the email of everyone who should get in.
Skip this step if Seerr is just for you.
Send them the portal link. They sign in with the email you added, using Google, GitHub or an email link, and tap Seerr. Nothing to install, on any phone, tablet or laptop.
01
In Settings > General, set Application URL to your Seawise.io address, like https://your-app.seawise.dev. Seerr needs this before password reset and new-account emails will work.
02
In Settings > Users, turn on Enable Jellyfin/Emby/Plex Sign-In. Turn on Enable New Jellyfin/Emby/Plex Sign-In too if you want friends to log in without importing them first.
03
Default Permissions only apply to new accounts, so set them before friends sign in. Global Movie Request Limit and Global Series Request Limit stop one person from filling your disks.
The Seawise.io container can't reach Seerr. On the server, run curl http://localhost:5055; if that fails, check the container is up and that port 5055 is published.
Enable CSRF Protection in Settings > Network makes Seerr require HTTPS, so http://server-ip:5055 breaks. Use the Seawise.io address, or turn it off by editing settings.json in /app/config.
Seerr sees all traffic coming from the proxy. Turn on Enable Proxy Support in Settings > Network so it records each visitor's real IP.
Seerr won't send password reset or generated-password emails until Application URL is set. Fill it in under Settings > General with your Seawise.io address.
Friends sign in to Seawise.io first, then to Seerr with their Jellyfin, Emby or Plex account. Seerr uses that second login to track who asked for what.
