Your *arr stack, from anywhere

Manage Sonarr, Radarr and Prowlarr away from home. Give friends Seerr, and nothing else.

About 20 minutes·Works on the free plan

You'll need

  • Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr and Seerr running at home
  • Docker
  • A free Seawise.io account

Step by step

Everything happens in your browser except step 1.

1

Run the Seawise.io container

Run this on the machine where Sonarr and Radarr runs. The container connects out to Seawise.io, so you don't open any ports on your router.

On Docker Desktop for Mac or Windows, replace --network host with -p 8082:8082.

your server
$ docker run -d --name seawise \
  --restart unless-stopped \
  --network host \
  -v seawise-data:/config \
  ghcr.io/seawise-io/seawise-client:latest

✓ Container started

2

Set a password

On a computer at home, open http://your-server-ip:8082 and create a password for the container's page.

Do this straight after starting the container. Whoever opens this page first sets the password.
3

Connect it to your account

Give the server a name, click Connect, and approve it in the seawise.io tab that opens. Sign up for free there if you haven't yet.

4

Add Sonarr and Radarr

Fill in the name, the address and the port Sonarr and Radarr uses (Sonarr 8989, Radarr 7878, Prowlarr 9696, Seerr 5055), then click Add.

Which address? With --network host, use localhost. On Docker Desktop, use host.docker.internal. If Sonarr and Radarr runs on another machine, use its local IP, like 192.168.1.20.
5

Open it from anywhere

Sonarr and Radarr now shows on your Servers page at seawise.io. Click it from any browser, on any network, and you're in.

6

Share it

Go to Portals, create one (say, Family), and add Sonarr and Radarr to it. Then open its sharing settings and add the email of everyone who should get in.

Skip this step if Sonarr and Radarr is just for you.

7

What they see

Send them the portal link. They sign in with the email you added, using Google, GitHub or an email link, and tap Sonarr and Radarr. Nothing to install, on any phone, tablet or laptop.

Wire the stack together

01

Keep the apps talking over your LAN

In Seerr's Settings > Services, point Hostname or IP Address at the local address of Radarr and Sonarr. Server-to-server calls can't pass a Seawise.io sign-in, so never use the .seawise.dev address there.

02

Use External URL for your own links

Seerr's Services settings also have an External URL field. Put your Radarr and Sonarr Seawise.io addresses there so you get clickable links on media pages from anywhere.

03

Lock down the three admin apps

In Sonarr, Radarr and Prowlarr, go to Settings > General > Security, pick Forms (Login Page) and set Authentication Required to Enabled. Only Seerr goes in your portal; the others stay private to you.

If something's not working

One of the apps shows as offline+

Check each one from the server: curl http://localhost:8989, then 7878, 9696 and 5055. Whichever fails is the container to look at.

Prowlarr indexers stop syncing+

In Prowlarr's Settings > Apps, Prowlarr Server and the app server fields must be local URLs like http://localhost:7878. A .seawise.dev address in those fields gets the sign-in page instead of the API.

A friend opens Sonarr or Radarr and gets access denied+

That's working as intended: only apps in your portal are shared. Send them to Seerr, which passes approved requests to Sonarr and Radarr for them.

Good to know

Use Seerr's limits instead of sharing Radarr

Seerr's request limits and approval settings give friends a say without handing them delete buttons in Radarr or Sonarr.

Try it on your own server.
