Share your Uptime Kuma status page

Answer "is Plex down?" before anyone has to ask.

About 10 minutes·Works on the free plan

You'll need

  • Uptime Kuma running on a machine at home
  • Docker
  • Admin plan (for a public status page)

Step by step

Everything happens in your browser except step 1.

1

Run the Seawise.io container

Run this on the machine where Uptime Kuma runs. The container connects out to Seawise.io, so you don't open any ports on your router.

On Docker Desktop for Mac or Windows, replace --network host with -p 8082:8082.

your server
$ docker run -d --name seawise \
  --restart unless-stopped \
  --network host \
  -v seawise-data:/config \
  ghcr.io/seawise-io/seawise-client:latest

✓ Container started

2

Set a password

On a computer at home, open http://your-server-ip:8082 and create a password for the container's page.

Do this straight after starting the container. Whoever opens this page first sets the password.
3

Connect it to your account

Give the server a name, click Connect, and approve it in the seawise.io tab that opens. Sign up for free there if you haven't yet.

4

Add Uptime Kuma

Fill in the name, the address and the port Uptime Kuma uses (3001 by default), then click Add.

Which address? With --network host, use localhost. On Docker Desktop, use host.docker.internal. If Uptime Kuma runs on another machine, use its local IP, like 192.168.1.20.
5

Open it from anywhere

Uptime Kuma now shows on your Servers page at seawise.io. Click it from any browser, on any network, and you're in.

6

Share it

Go to Portals, create one (say, Family), and add Uptime Kuma to it. Then open its sharing settings and add the email of everyone who should get in.

Skip this step if Uptime Kuma is just for you.

7

What they see

Send them the portal link. They sign in with the email you added, using Google, GitHub or an email link, and tap Uptime Kuma. Nothing to install, on any phone, tablet or laptop.

Set up a status page worth sharing

01

Create the status page

Click Status Pages, then New Status Page, and pick a slug. It lives at /status/your-slug, and default is a reserved slug.

02

Show it on your address

Add your-app.seawise.dev under Domain Names in the status page sidebar. Visitors who open your Seawise.io address then see the status page instead of the login screen.

03

Protect the admin side

A public app exposes the Uptime Kuma login, so turn on Two Factor Authentication in Settings > Security. Never use Disable Auth on a public app; it's meant for setups with another login in front.

If something's not working

Uptime Kuma shows as offline+

The Seawise.io container gets no answer from Uptime Kuma. Run curl http://localhost:3001 on the server and confirm the container publishes 3001, or check UPTIME_KUMA_PORT if you changed it.

Visitors get a sign-in page+

Private Seawise.io apps ask every visitor to sign in. For a status page anyone can see, make the app public on the Admin plan; for a team-only page, add people to your portal.

Logs show the wrong visitor IPs+

Go to Settings > Reverse Proxy, and under HTTP Headers set Trust Proxy to Yes so Uptime Kuma reads the forwarded IP.

Status page looks a few minutes behind+

That's by design: status pages cache results and refresh every 5 minutes. The admin view is the live one.

Good to know

Hide monitor URLs

Leave Show Clickable Link off on public monitors, since it lets anyone on the status page see each monitor's URL.

Set the Primary Base URL

In Settings > General, click Auto Get next to Primary Base URL while you're on your Seawise.io address, so links back to Uptime Kuma use it.

Try it on your own server.
